This seafood pasta dish is very tasty and quick to prepare.
If you have all your ingredients to hand, you can have the sauce ready in the time it takes to cook your pasta.
Just six ingredients (not including the water and pasta 🙂
Use fettuccine or spaghetti.
If you prefer, you could substitute fresh cooked salmon, canned salmon or a mixture for the smoked salmon.
It is very rich and you could perhaps get away with using less smoked salmon – probably four ounces would be plenty.
If you use fresh or tinned, then the quantities are about right – cooking isn’t an exact science and so you can use whatever you think is about right.
Whichever you choose, you’ll be getting Omega 3s from the salmon as canned salmon has the same properties as fresh – some fish, for example tuna, loses its Omega 3s during the canning process, but salmon is one that doesn’t so this dish can be one of your oily fish portions.

Pasta with Smoked Salmon
1 lb (500g) dried pasta
1 small glass white wine
1/4 pint (140 ml) carton double cream
grated parmesan cheese
1/2 lb (250g) smoked salmon
handful black olives (optional)
handful fresh basil (optional)
Cook the pasta in boiling water according to the instructions on the pack – add a dash of olive oil to help prevent the pasta sticking.
Take a large pan and bring the wine to the boil.
Add the salmon and let it heat through.
Add the cream and cheese, heat through.
Add the basil leaves and black olives.
At this point, be very careful not to let the sauce boil as it might curdle. Just heat gently so that it is hot.
Drain the pasta and then tip it into the creamy pasta sauce.
Mix thoroughly and then pour onto your serving plates.
A nice salad and some crusty bread would go well with this.
Seafood and pasta is such a quick way of preparing a meal – you get a good healthy meal in double quick time. I find it quicker to make pasta than to order and wait for a takeaway.
